The Onaway Trust helps to support indigenous cultures in the modern world. Since 1974, Onaway has funded an extensive number of projects worldwide. Many of these projects have grown to become successful, sustainable organisations in their own right. We first met Onaway in summer 2013 when they approached us about digital marketing.
The organisation had not looked at its communications for many years. This meant that it was unclear what they wanted to say and who they were trying to engage.
We needed a clear idea of where Onaway sits within the third-sector landscape and their position with regards the various issues affecting Indigenous people.
Once we’d achieved that, we undertook (with Only) a branding workshop and considered the marketing objectives. This helped us to articulate Onaway’s vision, and identify the core audiences who would be receptive to Onaway’s message and aims. Only undertook further research to create detailed personas. From there Hózhó created a digital communications strategy which encompassed content creation, social media and more.
Hózhó has continued to work with Onaway on a variety of projects. The organisation has a new look and feel, and has just implemented our social media strategy. We are currently redesigning their website, bringing it up to date and helping them to promote the wonderful work that they do more effectively.
